About Scarborough Beach

Scarborough Beach voted WAs best beach and most friendliest beach in the WA Clean Beaches Award in 2008, is located 14 kilometres north west of the centre of Perth. Plenty of free car parking is available and regular buses run from Perth city.

Scarborough Beach and the surrounding beach precinct is the venue for some of Australia’s best sporting events including Tri-Nations Beach Cricket, National Beach Volleyball and has been selected to play host to the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009. This is an event which includes up to 8000 competitors and officials and will inject over $23 million per year into the Western Australian economy.

Scarborough Beach is a very good surfing beach and attracts thousands of people every day during the summer months. The beach is popular with swimmers, surfers and bodyboarders. Windsurfing and kite surfing is also popular.  The Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club patrols the beach in the summer months and monitors the safest areas for swimmers.

Large grassy areas, picnic gazebos and BBQs, shaded children’s playground, public toilets, showers and change rooms are all available at Scarborough Beach to make your day out more enjoyable.

The Scarborough Beach area comes alive in summer as thousands of people flock to the beach to cool off. There are many restaurants, cafes and pubs in the Scarborough area all within very close proximity to the beach, many with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Apartment and hotel accommodation is also available with ocean views.
